Policies for Attendees

In the interest of full disclosure, ConClave, Inc. adheres to the following code of conduct and policies:

We value our members and expect them to be protected and respected. ConClave welcomes everyone regardless of their age, color, creed, gender, physical ability, sexual orientation, or size. Please help us do this by showing the same consideration and respect to your fellow con-goers that you would want for yourself. We want everyone to have a good time, and making fun of, or harassing, someone because they are “different” is not cool and will not be tolerated. Please keep the old saying, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything.”, in mind. Failure to behave in a civil manner will be dealt with immediately, and could result in a loss of your membership.

Remember: NO MEANS NO. Please take “no” for an answer. It doesn’t matter if the question being refused is “Would you hold my ferret?”, “Can I give you a hug?” or “Would you sleep with me?” If you ask someone to do something, and they refuse, please accept their refusal at face value and do not pursue the matter further. Failure to do so may very well cost you your convention membership and result in a visit from the police.

The age of consent in Michigan is 16. It makes no difference to the law how old the individual looks or acts, or whose idea anything was. Failure to comply with this law WILL result in the police being called.

Legal drinking age in Michigan is 21. ConClave, Inc., and its agents, support and enforce the laws regarding the drinking age. Anyone found supplying any underage individual with alcohol will be required to surrender their convention badges, as will the person who received the alcohol.

Illegal substances are just that. ConClave, Inc., reserves the right to deny, or revoke membership, to anyone caught using or supplying illegal substances at the convention.

Many people like to dress in costume, and we encourage this. If you are going to carry a weapon (real or simulated) as part of your costume, it MUST be peace bonded. There MAY be certain areas in which this rule will be waived, but such areas will be listed in your program book. Other than those areas so designated, no non-peace bonded weapons of any kind will be allowed in the convention area. Staff members will be on hand to peace bond your weapon for you.

Remember that everyone is here to enjoy themselves, but not everyone defines “enjoyment” the same way. Don’t allow your good time to interfere with someone else’s. Serious breaches of this can lead to a loss of your membership.

ConClave and its agents reserve the right to deny memberships to, or to revoke the membership of, any member who:
– Acts in a dangerous or disruptive manner
– Seriously impairs other members’ enjoyment of the convention
– Threatens the working relationship between ConClave and the Hotel

ConClave’s badges remain our property and we reserve the right to require any member to return them if we feel it necessary.

ConClave, Inc., will not post bail for illegal behavior under any circumstances.
