JEFFREY WEINSTOCK/DJ cypher: Literature Guest of Honor
Jeffrey Andrew Weinstock is professor of English at Central Michigan University where he teaches courses on American literature, popular culture, fantasy and science fiction, film, and the Gothic. He is an author or editor of 20 books, most recently The Cambridge Companion to the American Gothic, The Age of Lovecraft, Goth Music: From Sound to Subculture, and Return to Twin Peaks: New Approaches to Materiality, Theory, and Genre on Television.
As his alter-ego, DJ cypher, he has been spinning goth, industrial, and intelligent electronica since 1994. He has held DJ residencies at Contempt NYC, BOUND DC, and BOUND Hartford, and has done guest spots across the country, from Dracula’s Ball in Philadelphia to Endless Night in New Orleans to House of Voodoo in San Francisco. He currently hosts two online programs on WFKU.org. DJ cypher’s Dark Nation Radio focuses on contemporary goth, industrial, and electronica; has been online since 2002; and airs Sundays from 9-11 PM EST. DJ cypher’s Blasphemous Rumors is his dark 80s program and airs Tuesdays from 9-10 PM EST.
